Member Meander: Propagator’s Hobby Garden

June 2 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm EDT

Celebrate the season with a garden tour in Wayne! Jenkins members at the Sustaining Level and above ($500+) are invited to join us for a for a sunset stroll through Helen Standen’s garden. This propagator’s hobby garden is a creative, ever-evolving space shaped by curiosity and hands-on learning. Helen treats the garden as a playground, introducing new projects every few years and exploring a wide range of interests.

Guests will see a productive landscape featuring native plants, cut flowers, soil-building cover crops, and willows grown for basket weaving (this year’s focus). Many of the plants are grown to be eaten, preserved, crafted, or built with, reflecting a deep connection between gardening and everyday life. We’ll also learn about the ongoing effort to manage invasive plants while reestablishing natives in the woodland.

Members should provide their own transportation (address will be provided); carpooling is encouraged. Wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for uneven terrain.

This event is free for members at the Sustaining Level and above ($500+). Tickets limited to two per membership. Sustaining Level members will receive a link to RSVP via email. Not a Sustaining Level member? Renew or upgrade your membership to attend!
