DESCRIPTION:Join us for a talk by Doug Tallamy\, the author of The Nature of Oaks.\n\n\nLet it Be an Oak\n \nThursday\, March 17\, 7:00 – 8:30 pm\n \nPresented by Doug Tallamy\, Ph.D.\, author\, entomologist\, and University of Delaware professor\n \nOnce we have decided to restore the ecological integrity of our suburban neighborhoods\, we need to decide what plants to add to our properties. Oaks are superior trees for suburban restoration projects because of their many ecological and aesthetic attributes. Doug Tallamy will compare oak species to other popular shade trees in terms of their ability to support animal diversity\, protect watersheds\, sequester carbon dioxide\, and restore lost plant communities.\n \nFree of charge; registration is required.  \n \nThis lecture is a part of our monthly Third Thursday Lecture Series. Join award-winning photographer Laura Ducceschi to learn about equipment\, getting your subject in focus\, background bokeh\, composition\, and lighting challenges. Bring your camera to practice techniques along Jenkins’ beautiful trails and gardens. Friday evening begins with indoor instruction\, preparing for shooting out in the gardens on Saturday morning. The class will wrap up with time to share images from the morning.\n \n \nParticipants need to bring their own camera with which they have some familiarity.
