SUMMARY:SHIBORI (Indigo Dye Workshop)
DESCRIPTION:Led by Heather Exley \nJoin us in this textile class and have fun with shibori\, a resist dyeing technique from Japan and indigo\, a natural dye extracted from plants with a distinctive blue color. Begin to explore the in nite techniques to clamp\, tie\, bind\, fold\, stitch\, and compress fabric to create a resist\, then dye with indigo. Make wearable scarves using these techniques. \nTwo silk scarves are included in the workshop fee. Additional scarves may be purchased from the instructor for $5.00 each. Students may also bring a pre-washed white cotton garment of their own to dye. \n$50 members\, $60 non-members. Pre-registration required.

SUMMARY:Roots\, Shoots\, Seeds\, and Leaves: Making Plants from Plant Parts
DESCRIPTION:Led by Helen Standen\, Greenhouse & Nursery Manager \nChildren aged 6-12 years are invited to join us in the workshop as we create new plants from old. Techniques for root\, stem\, and leaf cuttings as well as seed sowing will be explored. Participants will go home with a mini-propagation house full of future houseplants as well as a milk jug greenhouse for winter sown pollinator- friendly garden plants. An adult must accompany each participant. \nCost: $5 for members\, $10 for non-members.\nPre-registration required. Class size is limited.

Jackson Hole WILD on Tour features award winning films from the most recent biennial Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival.\n\nMind of a Giant: 45 minutes\nVulcan Productions\, Off The Fence in partnership with Nat Geo WILD\n\nSynopsis:\n​Minds of a Giant explores what it is like to be an elephant\, as revealed by revolutionary new research. As scientists struggle to find out how many elephants are left in Africa\, they discover intriguing new behavior. In order to survive their current crisis\, the elephants are learning. We are discovering that elephants must be considered one of the most clever and complex creatures on the planet. They exhibit empathy\, grief\, joy\, fear and revengefulness\, but their complexity goes beyond emotion. They have self-awareness\, can co-operate and pass on information\, and adapt to solve problems in ways we never knew.\n\nFREE of charge. All are welcome.
