DESCRIPTION:Led by Steve Wright\, Director of Horticulture/Curator of Plant Collections at Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens \nFall is a great time for planting.  The heat of summer has passed but there is still time for newly-planted roots to establish before heaving frosts begin. You can think of late-season planting as a head start on the next year. Steve will begin this program in the John J. DESCRIPTION:According to the data and research at Hawk Mountain. Autumn is the best time of year to spot hawks as they migrate through Pennsylvania. Join Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens staff on an outing to Hawk Mountain for a raptor and fall color hike. We will meet at Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens at 8 am and head via bus to Hawk Mountain. Once we arrive\, you may choose the best trail for you – one that is ADA accessible to the South Lookout or a more rigorous hike up to the North Lookout. Both trails offer outstanding views\, hopefully full of fall color and raptors! Pack your own lunch to enjoy at the lookout. \n$65 members\, $75 non-members\nPre-registration required. SUMMARY:Cranberry Harvest and Whitesbog Bus Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join us at 7:15 am for a leisurely drive through the rich farmlands of southern New Jersey to our destination at Brown’s Mill\, New Jersey to learn the history of cranberry growing and witness the actual harvesting of cranberries. Included in our visit will be a demonstration of the cooking uses of cranberries. After our cranberry tour\, we will have a picnic lunch and then be off to Whitesbog for a visit to the historic village where Highbush blueberries were first selected and grown. We will also tour a classic Pine Barrens bog-no rubber boots required. The bus will return about 4:30pm. \n$90 members\, $100 non-members \nBus departs Jenkins at 7:15 am & returns at 4:30 pm.\nBox lunch is included.\nPre-registration required. Class size limited.
